FIRST LOOK: Upcoming Epcot Luminous fireworks spectacular

Epcot’s next firework spectacular debuts December 5, 2023. Replacing Epcot Forever, Luminous: The Symphony of Us will align Disney songs and the human spirit into a nighttime spectacular. This show will feature fountains, fireworks and lighting effects on World Showcase Lagoon.

In the past years, Epcot has been the showplace for numerous firework spectaculars, from the end of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, to the debut of Harmonious and Epcot Forever. World Showcase has challenged Disney fans to explore the globe during the day and come together as one at night.

A preview of “Heartbeat Symphony” original song for Luminous: The Symphony of Us.

Luminous: The Symphony of Us at Epcot

Luminous: The Symphony of Us will ignite nightly at Epcot, part of the Disney100 Celebration. This show will combine original songs with new arrangements of Disney’s greatest symphonies.

Joey McElroy from Disney Live Entertainment states, “At the start of the show, World Showcase comes to life as we hear voices from each pavilion welcoming us to this great gathering. With the tap of a conductor’s baton, our first movement begins with the original song, “Heartbeat Symphony.” For me, nothing says Epcot nighttime spectacular like a sweeping ballad, and this one comes for you right out of the gate.”

Disney musical arrangements, poised to tug at heartstrings

Childhood adventure is represented with a multilingual arrangement of “You’ll Be In My Heart,” from “Tarzan”. “Proud Corazón,” from “Coco” will push forward the meaning of family. Friendship follows, with “Toy Story’s” “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” and “Aladdin’s” “Friend Like Me.”

Romance buds, with music “So Close” from Disney’s live action film, “Enchanted.” But not every feeling in this show is pure magic and bliss. Much like the lesson we learn from Disney Pixar’s “Inside Out,” sadness is an important emotion as any. The story pushes forward with hard hitting moments like “When She Loved Me” from “Toy Story 2.” Those tears won’t dry immediately, as Luminous: The Symphony of Us next sets up “Remember Me” from Coco and “Into The Unknown” from “Frozen 2.”

From the darkness come light (in the form of spotlights and fireworks), as “I See The Light” from “Tangled” shines into the sky. From this moment the finale engages as the second original song, “Beating of our Hearts” erupts into the air.

Enjoy the music before the show debuts

You can add these Apple Music or Spotify playlists and sing along in preparation of this new show. It is expected that the two original songs, “Heartbeat Symphony” and “Beating of our Hearts” will be added later to streaming services.

McElroy states, “The team at Disney Live Entertainment is so excited to work with Pinar Toprak once again on the show’s incredible score. You may know Pinar from her work on film soundtracks or heard her Epcot anthem at night by Spaceship Earth.”

Luminous: The Symphony Of Us will debut at Epcot on Dec. 5. This marks the third new firework show at Epcot since the final showing of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth in 2019. In alignment with Disney100, Disney earlier stated that this show will reflect on 100 years of stories and characters from The Walt Disney Company.

Over in Japan, another Disney Parks offering is set to debut soon. Fantasy Springs opens at Tokyo DisneySea June 6, 2024 with four new rides and all new food offerings.
