A new roller coaster is taking shape behind Dark Universe at Universal Epic Universe and is finally confirmed. Site work for this new coaster continues behind Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, with a three-story building planned at about 93,000 square feet! Rumors suggested it might be a coaster, rumors were right.
Orlando Park Stop’s recent construction update shows concrete pouring, plus the work zone has reached the Darkmoor Village (the town in the Dark Universe land) guest path. The land is already home to Monsters Unchained and the Curse of the Werewolf spinning coaster. But now Universal shares that this new ride has, “an opening planned in the years ahead.”
Rumors vs. what already exists
Fan theories have swung from an indoor Creature from the Black Lagoon boat ride to a Bride of Frankenstein indoor coaster that might use a train similar to Escape from Gringotts. What guests can already ride in Dark Universe is Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment (a Golden Ticket Best Dark Ride winner) and Curse of the Werewolf, plus the land’s monster meet-and-greets and makeup experiences, covered in our Visiting Universal Epic Universe WITHOUT Express Guide.
So far, as usual with the Universal Orlando Resort team, they haven’t given a ton of details other than letting us know it is in fact an indoor roller coaster. But that doesn’t mean they haven’t done a ton of work. Universal Orlando tends to slowly roll out details as they quickly build new rides. But, we can see work is well underway with Bioreconstruct updates. What do you expect to experience on the next Universal Epic Universe ride opening?
