Dubai, a true city of the future, is preparing to take yet another step forward with transport throughout the city. Powered by Joby, Air Taxi transport will take eager riders flying over Dubai by early 2026. This will position Dubai as a world leader in fast, clean and quieter air travel – enabled by Joby’s technology.
JoeBen Bevirt, founder and CEO, Joby Aviation, said: “It is an honor to partner with the government of Dubai to demonstrate the value of sustainable air travel to the world. Today’s landmark agreement delivers on all three ingredients required to successfully launch an air taxi service – a definitive path to operations, well-placed infrastructure supported by dedicated partners, and an aircraft with the capacity and range to deliver meaningful journeys.
Quiet and speedy air travel
Taking up to four passengers at once, this short range air travel will allow for speedy service around downtown Dubai. A location already known for super cars and super skyscrapers, Dubai is looking forward with this air taxi service. Joby claims that the noise level, in cabin, will stay around 45 dBA while cruising – that’s the average noise level of a library.
This service combines the advantages of a drone with the assurance of a true pilot. Instead of airport or heliports, Dubai will be building four initial vertiport sites. These locations require less room than an airport and are ideal for landing these sophisticated vehicles. Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina and Dubai Downtown were chosen as the launch locations for Dubai’s air taxi service.

Dubai Air Taxi location network
Initially beginning with four locations, with the ability to expand when needs are requested, the Dubai Air Taxi will shuttle riders beginning by early 2026. This service is expected to cut travel time by over 80% to key locations. At maximum speed, riders can expect to travel up to 200 miles-per-hour in the aircraft.
This initiative between Joby and Dubai/UAE will position the city as a world leader in short form, all electric, city-wide transport. Joby has made some progress in offering their services to the United States of America, with a first electric flight occurring in New York City in late 2023.

Flying over Dubai
From the famous Palm Jumeirah to the Burj Khalifa, Joby Aviation and Dubai are poised to offer picturesque views of the city – while cutting down on traffic delays. This all electric vehicle will have zero operating emissions and can offer easier landing procedures than typical airplanes. This will allow for greater expansion of the network in the future.
While in Dubai, don’t miss a good coffee. The next great Instagram post may be a sip and snap away in Al Seef Dubai.
