Florida is filled with amazing state parks, each offering their own view in to the beauty and nature of the state. But one location stands out with its own pancake house, built on a mill with history dating back before the Civil War. The Old Sugar Mill Pancake House at De Leon Springs State Park is ready for pancake making.
Old Sugar Mill Pancake House | Gluten Free Possibilities
The Old Sugar Mill Pancake House is more than a breakfast spot. It is a historic visit, a build-your-own-breakfast and a gluten-friendly destination. Guests can choose from buttermilk, multi-grain, gluten-free or buckwheat pancakes and add some sweetness with honey, maple syrup or molasses. Extras and toppings can be purchased alongside the all-you-can-eat pancakes, like sausage, eggs, bacon or pancake add-ons like pecans, peaches and chocolate chips.
The Old Sugar Mill Pancake House gets busy fast! For best chances to dine there, you will want to arrive 15+ minutes before opening or get there 2 hours before closing. The Old Sugar Mill usually opens at 8:00 a.m and closes at 4:00 p.m., and they have a virtual waitlist you can join when the line is long.
For larger groups, be prepared to wait as these tables have grills built in – meaning you can’t just push together some options easily. Instead, make a day of it. Enjoy the warm sun, the crystal clear water and a way to swim off those carbs, all while experiencing Florida’s natural beauty.
