Disney’s Cinderella Castle returning to original colors at Magic Kingdom

After five years of pink iridescence, a part of the 50th anniversary celebration, Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom is returning to its original blue, gray and gold design. This revert will bring back a look that graced the park for almost 50 years.

“The paint we use has to undergo accelerated UV and weather testing, simulating years of sun exposure,” states Disney. “This rigorous process,” they continue, “ensures that the castle’s colors stay vivid for years to come. For hard-to-reach locations, such as the roofs, we use a high-performance paint that is actually used for cars! The paint is durable and long-lasting, reducing the need for touch-ups.”

Old becomes new again

Back in 2020, admist the COVID re-openings, first in-park looks at the pink color scheme debuted. While the color change had some initial pushback, many have grown to love and even prefer this current design. Let us know in the comments below, do you prefer:

  • Original: Blue, Gray and Gold
  • 50th look: Iridescent Blue, Pink and Gold
Some fans are ecstatic about the return of the old colors.

Another change coming soon, TRON: Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom will be getting a temporary TRON: Ares overlay. In celebration of the third TRON film, this temporary change will add in new music and alter the color scheme of the vehicles and Upload Conduit (color changing roof).
