SeaWorld Orlando Penguin Trek Coaster completes track layout

Orlando’s next family coaster is preparing to chill out at SeaWorld Orlando. Penguin Trek, SeaWorld’s 2024 coaster, will take family riders on an immersive journey in Antartica. Speeding up to 43 miles per hour, this 3,000+ foot long track will take families on a thrilling ride.

Opening spring 2024, Penguin Trek will begin with guests placed in an enclosed Antartica exhibit. Loading into snowmobile roller coaster trains, guests will prepare to take off. Penguin Trek will have a height requirement of 42 inches. It will take riders both indoors and outdoors, and end with a view inside of a real penguin exhibit.

This is going to be a family coaster, but that doesn’t mean it will be a kiddie coaster. As seen here, with the white track, Penguin Trek will have some very thrilling elements. Also note how close it gets to the blue Manta roller coaster track. This is sure to lead to some close fly-bys when both rides line up.

With 3,000+ feet of track, the SeaWorld Orlando Penguin Trek coaster will be longer than Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s family coaster, Cobra’s Curse and Universal Orlando’s coaster, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. With that much track, and a 43 mile per hour top speed, that means a lot of ride time. According to @TheFunaticsBlog, the ride length will be 144 seconds.

Much like Icebreaker, on the other side of the park, Penguin Trek will be a multi-launch coaster. The yellow arrow above is pointing to where guests will launch out onto the track. A majority of the attraction will be outside, but it will begin and end with indoor sections.

From this initial launch, guests will soar skyward. Zooming over the crystal white track, they will begin to dive into their Antarctic journey. Due note, this attraction, like Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, will have a maximum height. Penguin Trek has a maximum height requirement of 77 inches.

Track layout of SeaWorld Orlando Penguin Trek

This full outdoor track layout showcases much of the exciting maneuvers guests can expect. Fun, with launches, but no flips or corkscrews for younger ones to worry about. As noted above, guests will begin this portion of the journey launching out of the show building at the yellow arrow. From here they will soar up and descend with the track. Riders will get close to Manta and continue in a thrilling u-turn.

Riders will meet the blue arrow where they will launch a second time, heading into their final twists, turns and dives. The coaster begins to slow as the snowmobile coaster trains makes its way through the last outdoor track maneuvers. This is where the ride will return indoors, putting guests right next to the indoor penguin exhibit. Guests will complete their ride with a view of real life penguins.

SeaWorld Orlando claims that Penguin Trek is still set to open spring 2024. As we can already see the track complete, we will eagerly await ride testing. If you want a close up look, you can jump on Manta like the thrill seekers seen above.

Over on the Florida west coast, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is also working on a family coaster. Phoenix Rising will be Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s first coaster with onboard audio. This family suspended coaster is expected to open soon in the Pantopia area of the park.
