The Muppets in-universe band, Electric Mayhem, is taking over for Aerosmith at Disney’s Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster attraction. When first announced, this presented some immediate red flags for rock fans who saw this change as the end of high-energy music on this classic coaster. Disney invited me out to get a first listen to two of the new Muppet-fied songs. I can say, Disney walked a very fine line with this update. I think both Muppets and Classic Rock fans may be happy with this change.
All five Muppet-fied songs have now been released, alongside the opening date of May 26! These songs, much like in the previous version of the attraction, will play randomly. This encourages you to rock ‘n’ ride again and again to hear them all:
- Song 2 – The Electric Mayhem
- Born To Be Wild – The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
- Love Rollercoaster – The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
- Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) – The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
- Walking on Sunshine – The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson
During my media preview I was able to listen to “Song 2” and “Born To Be Wild,” and can confirm that those specific tracks did have Muppets backing, but also stayed true to the original sound. Animal, the outrageous band member of the Muppets Electric Mayhem crew, was heard screaming during “Song 2,” but he didn’t take over the entire song.
Rock with the Muppets Electric Mayhem band today
You can (sort of) listen to these tracks now. I compiled a playlist of the currently available tracks, save it to your Spotify Playlist where the songs will be updated when/if Disney releases the official Muppets Electric Mayhem versions. In recent years, the Walt Disney Company has been getting more consistent with sharing ride and show tracks for eager fans. They just released the Adventure Way Symphonic Suite from the new Adventure Way expansion of the Disneyland Paris Resort.
Disney has also vaguely mentioned that bonus tracks may appear for the ride in the future, “We heard the band’s been working on some bonus tracks…” We will have to wait and see what other artists collab with The Muppets. Leave your ideas for future songs in the comment area below.
