Disney Parks are some of the most Instagrammable locations on Earth, until they suddenly aren’t. Florida’s sunshine state nickname seems to retract during the rainy season as sudden storms attack the vacation destination. But I found a way to keep up your Disney style and stay dry – PonchEar, a Mickey Ears poncho.
During my visit to the 2023 IAAPA Expo, the biggest theme park convention on Earth, I was quite literally stopped in my tracks as I walked by the PonchEar booth. In a convention of thousands of attendees and businesses, it is hard to stand out. Yet, what do I see at a booth nearby? A set of Mickey Ears in a protected poncho. As a former Cast Member, seeing a new Disney outfit solution is an extremely rare occurrence.

Mickey Ears Poncho – PonchEar
These PonchEar products are a simple, yet genius idea. Ponchos, with head room for your headgear. Mickey Ears can be proudly displayed, even during inclement weather.
I was able to speak to the minds behind the Mickey Ear poncho, PonchEar, where I was shown a new option (seen on the right side of the image above). This version allows your poncho to pack up. Instead of a full body poncho, this secondary option is a jacket that stores the headgear cover until you need it. And, the PonchEar team says they can also work with custom logos for businesses or groups as well.
Can they hold up to strong weather?
I will openly state I am not being paid for this article, nor was I asked to do a hosted review. That being said, I did feel the PonchEar myself, and this is certainly a step above your standard Disney poncho. These were not flimsy or weak, and I believe could take a beating for a long theme park trip. The material was thicker than Disney’s options or the cheaper brands you see on Amazon.
I also noticed the sizing ability, with the built in strings to let users pull and tie the poncho to fit their body better. The poncho was quite long, allowing most people to cover all the way down below their knee. The new jacket option lets you seal up your headgear until you need it. Pricing starts at $17 for a kids size.
If you snag yourself a PonchEar, you will have to plan a Disney vacation to use it. Tokyo DisneySea is opening Fantasy Springs in 2024 with new rides, shows and eateries.
