Fire and ice have both arrived this summer to Wendy’s fast food locations as Saucy Nuggs and a Triple Berry Frosty. With 4-20+ nuggets per entree, this limited time menu offering can be enjoyed as a snack or a main meal.
The Saucy Nuggs come in five different size options, from 4 Nuggs at $2.99 (before tax) to 50~ Nuggs at $24.99 (before tax). Wendy’s even has a website to help dedicated fans find where the large 50~ Party Packs are sold. The Triple Berry Frosty starts at $1.49 (before tax) and is sold at $3.39 (before tax) for the largest option.
Wendy’s Ghost Pepper Spicy Nuggs taste test
Advertised as Ghost Pepper, I expected these nuggets to be fairly high on the “heat meter.” While that was incorrect, they did offer a smoky flavor. Overall, the spicy aspect was quite low, with the “spiciest” nuggets reaching a 3 out of 10 for my personal scale.
Alongside the Ghost Pepper flavor, I also tried the Garlic Parm and Spicy Buffalo flavor. The best, in my opinion, was the Garlic Parm. These nuggets were smothered in garlic smell and flavor. All of the nuggets had good crunch, and each were plenty covered in their sauces. While not a mind-blowing flavor experience, these nuggets could be a good option for someone that has a specific craving and wants it cheap and fast. Plus, on Wednesdays, Wendy’s is offering a free 6-pack of Nuggs with any purchase on their app.
Wendy’s Triple Berry Frosty
The surprise winner (for me) of all the food was the Triple Berry Frosty. This smooth and creamy dessert was a near exact flavor match to the Go-Gurt Berry flavor. A favorite among many kids, Go-Gurt packs are gone within seconds. This new Frosty flavor allowed you to enjoy that nostalgic flavor for many, many bites.
Even the smallest Frosty size should be enough for a quick little “sweet treat.” Wendy’s states, “strawberry, blackberry, raspberry and other natural flavors all jammed together with our thick and creamy Frosty. Because the best berry of all is more berry.” The fruity flavor is quite noticeable from the first bite. Should this replace a true multi-fruit smoothie? Not if you are going for healthy. But for a fruity Frosty, it was quite satisfying.
McDonald’s is also offering a limited time menu offering, the “Despicable Me 4” Minion Happy Meal Toys. With 10 toys and themed apple packaging, this may be a perfect fast food pickup for your “little minion” in the family.
