The elegance of a Ferrari, the creativity of a LEGO brick and the fun of Legoland Florida Resort have combined into one. Legoland Florida unveiled their 1:1 scale Lego Ferrari 296 GTS. This model is the cornerstone of the LEGO Ferrari Build & Race attraction – now open!
Even if you aren’t a car fan, you can understand the incredible effort that went into creating this plastic supercar. The LEGO Ferrari 296 GTS model took Master Model Builders 1,850 hours to build. Matching a Ferrari 296 GTS to the finest detail, the LEGO version is 15 feet long, seven and a half feet wide and four feet tall. It also weighs two tons.

This build features headlights, a driver’s door that actually opens and a roaring engine. The Lego Ferrari 296 GTS is designed to inspire guests as they enter the garage of the new interactive attraction. The Legoland “pit crew” involved a designer, six Master Model Builders and three animators to ensure every detail matched that of the real sports car itself.

Lego Ferrari Build & Race attraction
As if the car alone wasn’t enough, there is an entire experience center. LEGO Ferrari Build & Race is an interactive area designed for speedsters. With three unique zones, this area lets guests build a LEGO race car and then test its drivability. Racers can visit the build zone, the test zone and three test tracks. There is also an interactive digital zone which allows guests to customize their car and participate in a virtual race for the checkered flag.
Legoland Florida Resort’s youngest drivers can also get in on pint-sized design fun and create their own designs in the LEGO Duplo build zone, complete with larger bricks for smaller hands. Plus, as expected at Legoland Florida Resort, kids’ imagination are set free with tons of build areas around the park.
LEGO Ferrari Build & Race opened to the public on Friday, March 8. The attraction is included with park admission at Legoland Florida Resort.
For those looking for Lego fun up north, Legoland New York Resort is also working on a new attraction. Minifigure Skyflyer will debut this summer at the park. This new transport ride will take guests in dance party gondolas up and over the park lands.
