“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” has begun its Florida debut run with a limited-time showing in Orlando at the Dr. Phillips Center. A sequel to the Harry Potter film and book series, this production is a technological showpiece, even for a touring experience. From the non-stop sleight of hand magic to visual effects, audio trickery and even real bursts of fire, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” brings the Wizarding World magic to the stage.
Visual magic creates the next chapter of the Harry Potter series
It is no secret that the Harry Potter films are full of visual effects and CGI wizardry, but how do you bring that to the stage for numerous hours? “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is able to pack in non-stop WOW moments with the use of projection mapping, pyrotechnics, sleight of hand magic and costume quick changes. No spoilers outside of what you can see in the trailer above, but I can assure you that these are not your standard Broadway stunts.
There are numerous moments during the show that make you say, “how did they do that?” Even those who aren’t huge Harry Potter fans can enjoy the intricate timing needed to make this show possible. That being said, it is highly recommended that you watch all the films or read all of the books prior to seeing this show. “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” heavily references and even intertwines itself with the original source material. You can get a recap on the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child website.
'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' is on-stage now at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and WOW you have not seen a visual spectacle like this.
