How to get Grogu Mode on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park have updated their Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attractions in their respective Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands. This update coincides with “The Mandalorian & Grogu” film debuting in theaters and adds in new missions, new planets and better guest experiences. But there is a hidden mode you need to know about, Grogu Mode. Here’s how to activate the most adorable Easter egg experience in the entire Star Wars themed land.

Hidden Grogu Mode in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

This mode is much easier to achieve than the former Chewy (Chewbacca) Mode, which required all six riders to work as one. Instead, Grogu Mode only requires two riders to be gunner and they don’t even need to do their activation sequence at the same time. This mode works with just two riders, so you can even leave the Pilot seats empty if you visit during a time with short waits and fewer guests.

Both GUNNERS will need to first BUCKLE UP and then AVOID pressing any buttons prior to PRESSING and HOLDING two buttons in short sequence. Once activated, the Grogu Mode is obvious as all the lights in the Millennium Falcon cockpit will turn green for a few seconds and you will hear a mechanical noise.

Activating Grogu Mode

This hidden mode is fairly easy to activate and we were able to successfully do it on every try. The biggest info is DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTON prior to getting your seatbelt on or attempting to active Grogu Mode. When you are buckled in and ready, both GUNNERS will need to PRESS and HOLD the last WHITE SQUARE BUTTON underneath the GUNNER screen. As you need both GUNNERS, this is the square closest to the back of the ride vehicle, farthest from the GLOWING ORANGE activation button.

PRESS and HOLD the WHITE SQUARE BUTTON and then PRESS the GLOWING ORANGE activation button. Both GUNNERS will need to do this, but they do not need to do it at the exact same time. This can happen in sync, around the same time or one-by-one, as long as neither GUNNER presses any other button during this time. Once both GUNNERS have done this you will see the lights in the ride vehicle (cockpit) turn green for a few seconds. That is how you know it was a successful change to Grogu Mode.

Grogu Mode is a lot of fun, but it does put Grogu in charge of the mission instead of the Mandalorian. The storyline goes along the same way, but you hear Grogu’s voice instead of the Mandalorian’s. Because of that, Grogu Mode is not suggested for your first ride. Timing for specific moments or key points about the storyline may be missed when you hear Grogu’s babbles and laughs instead of specific mission points. But, it does add even more re-reideability to this attraction.

All new planet and mission options for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

This ride update to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction improves the ride in almost every possible way. Better music, more engaging storylines, additional characters, options to pick iconic planets and Grogu shooting missiles at people. It is also hard to overstate how much of an improvement this new version is and I believe people will really love, especially longtime Star Wars fans.

Guests now visit Batuu, Tatooine and have the choice between three planet missions at Endor, Corusant or Bespin. Checkout the video above to see all of the planet options that were added to this Star Wars attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Park.
