The Walt Disney Company is joining alongside the America250 celebrations, updating one of their fan-favorite rides, Soarin’, into a travel through Americana. This will be the third iteration of the ride, originally “flights over California” began in 2001. Now, the EPCOT and Disney California Adventure version of this attraction will receive a truly American update.
“Each scene helps to create a portrait of what we believe makes America so special,” said Tom Fitzgerald, creative director and chief storytelling executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “It’s a tapestry of urban wonders, natural beauty, and iconic locations that celebrate the spirit of the nation and the 250th anniversary of the United States.”
Soarin’ Across America anthem by Bruce Broughton
A new musical arrangement by Bruce Broughton of the beloved Jerry Goldsmith Soarin’ themes underscores the adventure, shares the Disney Parks Blog. If you don’t recognize Bruce Broughton’s name, you may certainly recognize his iconic music throughout Disney Parks, including the Spaceship Earth soundtrack embedded above.
Soarin’ Across America ride locations
Soarin’ Across America will debut May 26th at EPCOT and June 2nd at Disney California Adventure. Some small portions of this update can already be seen at EPCOT. While we don’t yet know every detail, Disney has revealed select locations that we will be Soarin’ over soon:
- Hawaiian Coasts
- New York Harbor
- Mount Rushmore
- Grand Canyon
- New England Coastline
- Southern Bayous
