TRON: Ares has arrived in theaters. This continuation of the TRON film series presents yet another view at The Grid and this time the Tesla and xAI brands have come alongside the Walt Disney Company to showcase this world. Tesla owners can expect a TRON: Ares update for their cars in the coming days, announced Tesla on X. This update won’t bring your physical body into the TRON world, but it will update your Tesla’s interface with new TRON inspired visuals.
TRON: Ares on Tesla – Playbox App Update
While the update files are making their way through the Tesla lineup, we have some limited details on what Users can expect. This update will be accessible via the Toybox App on Tesla. The Toybox App currently allows other fun features on the car like a drawing pad, using the car’s outdoor speakers like a portable boombox, turning your car’s GPS into a look at the planet Mars and more.
Now, once the update is complete, there will be a TRON: Ares function as well. Tesla has not yet stated how long this function will be on the car or if it is a permanent add-on. What we do know is:
- Tesla car visualization can be switched out for a Red Lightcycle in the Car Status area
- Tesla car visuals can be changed for Car Navigation
- Full Self Driving (Supervised) will now show a Red Lightcycle light trail behind it on Car Navigation
- Interior Lighting on select models will now turn Red for the “Tron” mode
- A red grid will appear underneath the Red Lightcycle visual for the Car Status portion of the screen while parked
TRON: Ares, xAI, Optimus and Tesla
It appears that much of the Elon Musk suite of tech companies are aligning with The Walt Disney Company for this film. The Optimus robots were at the film premiere, xAI was used as a sponsor for the film’s red carpet and now Tesla vehicles are getting this TRON: Ares update.
Between xAI, Optimus and Tesla, this group of companies is probably the closest to the TRON fictional company, ENCOM, as we have in the real world. Maybe one day The Grid will be more real than we think.
TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom Park
You will not be left out of The Grid if you don’t own a Tesla, you can also visit Magic Kingdom Park or Shanghai Disneyland for an experience on a Lightcycle. Both of these parks not only have their own Lightcycle roller coaster, both coasters were also updated for the TRON: Ares film.
